INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY: A CALL TO COLLECTIVE TRANSFORMATION As we celebrate our Independence, there is a higher demand to pause, reflect, and rethink our collective lower consciousness and weakness—the very conditions to which we all, in one way or another, have contributed to the endless devaluation of our nation. The possibility of change rests on our willingness to embrace inward transformation—a transformation that gives us a new lens for right thinking, right perspective, right belief, healed emotional wounds, and right behaviour, all embedded in radical collective responsibility. Independence is not merely the freedom from external control; it is also the courage to confront what controls us from within. We must therefore look inward, take responsibility, and become conscious of the patterns that keep reproducing the outcomes we complain about. We can reclaim. We can reinvent. We can rebuild the path. The Nigeria we desire will require not only new systems, policies, and structures, but also renewed minds, healed hearts, responsible citizens, and a collective consciousness committed to the common good. As we mark another year of independence, may we move beyond merely celebrating freedom to becoming worthy stewards of it. «“Yet there are those who yield to their weakness, and they will have troubles unending. I never gather with such ones, nor give them honor in any way.”» Happy Independence Anniversary, Nigeria. May our freedom find expression in our thinking, our character, our responsibility, and the Nigeria we collectively build.
